The Professional Staff at Riverdale would like to welcome you the 2010 Junior
Golf Program. Our goal is to offer a safe and fun environment for junior
golfers to learn the skills and etiquette necessary to thrive in a golf
course setting, and enjoy the game for a lifetime. The focus of this year's
program will be in three areas:
» Beginner/Intermediate Juniors ages 6-18
» Juniors under 7 (pee-wees)
» Competitive Juniors (middle school & high school golfers involved in competitive golf programs)
The program for juniors 6-18 will consist of 2 sessions, one in June and
one in July. The clinics will be held on Tuesday mornings. Each session
will include four one-hour clinics that will focus on the full swing, chipping,
pitching, putting, sand play, etiquette, and rules. The cost of each session
is $80.
Students ages 12 and up will have the opportunity to play 9-holes after
the last three clinics. To play on the course the student must pass an assessment
by one of our PGA Professionals to determine if he/she is capable and ready
to be on the golf course. Skills assessments will be done toward the end
of each clinic and will be based on both their cognitive and athletic ability.
After passing the assessment, students may play after class for a $5.00
green fee.
Juniors are expected to follow all of the rules and etiquette of the game
while on the course. Playing privileges may be suspended, at the discretion
of the staff, if a junior golfer fails to comply.
The junior golf season will conclude with a tournament/fun day followed
by an awards banquet and BBQ on Tuesday, August 4th. Parents are invited
to join in the fun.
For those children ages 5-7, and any first time golfers under 8, we will
offer our Pee-Wee’s / Beginners sessions. These sessions are designed
as an introduction to the game of golf. We will focus on the most basic
skills needed for future success in golf. These sessions will include basic
instruction for the junior and demonstrations by the professional staff,
and will be followed by ice cream & treats. Cost will be $10 per student
for each clinic.
We will also be offering a series of competitive camps for middle school/high
school golfers who are playing, or plan on playing, competitive golf at
the high school level and beyond. These camps will be coordinated with local
high school coaches, who will help identify the players who would benefit
from these sessions. The times and dates are to be determined.
Whichever program you child participates in, we look forward to helping
them improve and enjoy this great game.
Please feel free to contact the golf shop at 303-659-6700 if you have any
questions.
